Our highly reliable systems provide a much-needed solution to an emerging problem - high-energy requirements for water desalination plants. In the water desalination industry, our control and information systems provide the level of control necessary to address the secondary impacts of the power needed for a desalination plant. Water desalination is an important source of water throughout the Middle East, and it's important to have plant- and system-wide control capabilities that will provide the control necessary for addressing your power demands.

To better serve our customers, we have sales offices in 13 countries, and a network of associate companies strategically located in countries. The associate network also provides local support an understanding of specific regional codes and standards, permits local engineering firms to participate in the development of application-specific software. Associates are well versed in our quality standards, project management techniques, and state of the art control system technology.

Ras Laffan Desalination and Power Plant - Qatar

Ras Laffan Power and Water Plant in Qatar, owned jointly by AES, Qatar Petroleum, QEWC, and GIC, consists of a new, 800-megawatt combined cycle power plant and a 227 MLD (million liters per day) desalination plant. It runs on a common Ovation control system, allowing for unified configuration based on a well-proven platform. The system integrates third-party control systems through data links that offer two-way communication. The Ovation control system was chosen because of the system's capability to integrate large amounts of I/O and Emerson's vast experience with the power generation industry. The project has been operational since 2003.

Central Electric Generating Company (CEGCO) Samra Combined Cycle Plant - Jordan

In order to meet the increasing demand for electricity as well as satisfy the Jordanian initiative to switch its power plants to gas fueled, Cegco is adding a new 300 MW combined cycle plant to its portfolio. The Samra plant will run on natural gas supplied by an Egyptian gas pipeline that is extending throughout Jordan. Addition of the Samra power plant increases Jordanian generation capacity by approximately 20%. The Samra plant includes two 100 MW gas turbine units and a 100 MW steam turbine.

Saudi Electric Company East Faras, Uthmaniyah, Shedum - Saudi Arabia

With a rapidly growing population causing a 5% increase in power demands every year, the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has taken steps to prepare for increased production. Particularly, growth in the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia has led SEC to upgrade several crucial power plants within their eastern sector. The Eastern Regional Branch of SEC has purchased Ovation® expert control technology to upgrade the control system for nine Westinghouse and one MHI simple cycle combustion turbines. Five units are located at the Faras Power Station, one unit is at the Uthmaniyah Power Station, and four are found at the Shedgum Power Station.

GAMEK Capanda Hydroelectric Dam - Angola

In 2002, Angola announced plans for a major rehabilitation of its power sector infrastructure. A key element of this plan is the 520- megawatt Capanda Hydroelectric Dam in Malange, which is about 190 miles (300 km) east of Angola’s capital city, Luanda. The success of this project was crucial to Angola’s power supply, as it more than doubles the country’s current generating capacity. For a plant of this magnitude and importance, the directors at GAMEK, owner of the plant, wanted to work with a financially stable corporation with a powerful control system. They chose Emerson Process Management and the Ovation® expert control system.
