Recognizing the popularity of PLCs in the process control
and information industry, Emerson Process Management Power
& Water Solutions has integrated Allen-Bradley PLCs into
the Ovation® distributed control and information system
architecture. The open architecture and flexibility of the
Ovation® system provides the perfect platform for seamless,
transparent integration of PLC data. The ability to control
stand-alone field equipment and process logic that executes
on PLCs is now available on the Ovation® system for use
in higher-level control and information strategies.
Allen-Bradley PLC Integration Features:
- Seamless integration of Allen-Bradley PLC with Ovation®
Network
- Employs standard Allen-Bradley PLC IEEE 802.3 Ethernet
communications port
- Interfaces to Ovation® Network via commercially available
Network — Ethernet bridge or concentrator
- No custom hardware or "bolt-on" modules required to achieve
PLC connection
- No artificial limits imposed on PLC configuration, I/O
complement, etc.
- PLC configuration can be achieved via the network from
Ovation® workstations
- Up to five fully loaded PLCs can be coupled to the Ovation®
Network using a single network interface through a controller
- PLC programming uses Allen-Bradley tools that execute
from a Microsoft® Windows®-based workstation
- Monitoring of executing PLC logic via Ovation® workstations
