In addition to the standard
Ovation® I/O modules -- analog input/output and digital
input/output -- we have designed several special purpose I/O
modules to handle unique circumstances. These special I/O
modules include:
- Link Controller (LC) module
- Speed Detector module
- Valve Positioner module
- Loop Interface module
The Ovation® Link Controller (LC) Module provides
the Ovation®
Controller with a serial data communications link to a third-party
device or system. This module is a single board computer utilizing
onboard processing power through an Intel microprocessor. The
Link Controller Module is fully equipped to handle protocol
tasks associated with an interface. The LC module operates in
a DOS environment. This enables application programs intended
to run on the Link Controller Module to be created using standard
development tools. Libraries of C language support routines
are used to develop Link Controller module application programs.
These routines greatly facilitate the programming process by
performing many of the tasks that are typically required during
development of Link Controller applications.
The Ovation® Speed Detector I/O Module determines
the speed of equipment by measuring the frequency of the tachometer
output signal. It converts tachometer output frequency into
16 bit and 32 bit binary numbers. The 16 bit output, updated
at a rate of 5ms detects equipment over speed and the 32 bit
output, updated at a variable rate, regulates equipment speed.
The Ovation® Valve Positioner I/O Module provides
closed loop position control of a steam turbine valve. The
I/O module serves as the interface between the Ovation®
Controller and an electro-hydraulic servo valve actuator.
Valve styles controlled by this module include throttle, governor,
interceptor, extraction and bypass.
The Ovation® Loop Interface I/O Module provides
control of a single process loop through analog and digital
inputs and outputs. Process information is displayed on an
Ovation® graphic which allows manual control of the loop.
