Fleet Optimization

The SmartProcess® Fleet Optimization collects data that affects operational performance from segregated areas throughout the fleet. Data considered may include operating costs, heat rate penalties, CEMS data, and maintenance costs, all of which are integrated for analysis via enterprise data server technology.

Using the collected data, the Fleet Optimization tracks various costs and calculates economic trade offs between the many interrelated relationships and cost functions. It considers changing fleet conditions to predict emissions and determine strategies for maintaining emissions cap compliance.

Emissions Control

The Fleet Optimization determines the optimum SO2 and NOx emission rates for each plant within the fleet so the total amount of SO2 or NOx produced doesn't exceed the yearly caps, and the FGDs and SCRs are utilized in the most cost-effective manner. Total CO2 can be tracked to improve portfolio strategies for greener generation composition. Heat rate analysis and dispatching strategies in ISO regions can be integrated in the cost evaluations.

Data Display
Data is collected from various plants and displayed through web-based trend visualization, charts, and decision-support screens that can be accessed throughout the enterprise.

Remote Server
The Fleet Optimization solution displays the decision support displays, control system graphics and backups of the historical data on a remote server that can be accessed from any PC on the corporate LAN/WAN that is equipped with client software. Clustering, redundancy and parallel server technologies are supported.

According to EPRI, the industry average
savings for a 500-MW plant with 0.5% heat rate improvement equals $200,00 annually.
