Ovation® System Installation (OV220-UNX)

Prerequisites
Students must have a good understanding of the Ovation® system architecture, database point records, and control implementation. Students must also have a strong instrumentation and controls background and understanding of the plant systems that interface with the Ovation® installation. It is recommended that students attend the OV100-UNX and either the OV200-UNX-1.8.X or OV200-UNX-1.9.X courses prior to attending this course.

Description
This course is designed to build proficiency in the setup of the Ovation hardware and troubleshooting of initial installation problems. The course describes the proper grounding and environmental conditions under which the equipment operates. The course covers controller hardware, fault reporting, proper termination of inputs and outputs, and peripheral configuration. Students will perform system I/O check-out and loop checks. This course is intended for students who will install Ovation equipment in a Solaris-based environment.

Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, using the reference material provided, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe the proper grounding for Ovation equipment
  2. Explain the peripheral addressing scheme
  3. Describe the proper power requirements and backup power system for Ovation equipment
  4. Evaluate the startup and shutdown of Ovation equipment for proper operation
  5. Evaluate a problem reporting scheme
  6. Evaluate the diagnostic LEDs and fault codes of the controller
  7. Use documentation to determine proper action in a problem condition
  8. Set up various peripheral devices including a printer
  9. Set up an Ovation Operator Station from a backup
  10. Perform system I/O checkout and solve problem conditions
  11. Perform a loop check and solve problem conditions
