Prerequisites
A working knowledge of steam turbines and prior completion of SYS (WDPF System User), SYM (WDPF System Maintenance), and 7LM (WDPF Level 7 Maintenance) courses is strongly recommended.

Description
This course covers typical steam turbine operation from startup to line synchronization. Students will learn how to interpret the operator auto and overspeed protection functionals, and will learn about the automatic turbine control and rotor stress programs. Classroom lecture includes valve operation, calibration and troubleshooting topics.

Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Use all turbine graphics
  2. Perform valve testing
  3. Interpret operator auto and overspeed protection functionals
  4. Use manual panel
  5. Use the calibration panel to troubleshoot
