WDPF® RISC workstation-based devices, known as WEStations,
provide an open platform for implementing a variety of operator,
engineering, historian, logger and communication server functions.
These workstations also facilitate communications to other
networks and devices through their use of open operating systems
and communications protocols. WEStation functional units or
"drops" connect to both the Westnet Data Highway and the Ethernet
Information Highway.
The WEStation Operator Workstation is
built on the proven performance of WDPFII distributed control
and information systems technology, the WEStation Operator
Station is the most advanced workstation-based operator of
its kind. The WEStation Operator Station provides a window
to the plant process. This real-time graphical interface provides
the operator with access to control, diagnostics, trending,
alarming, and plant conditions.
WEStation Operator Station Features:
- Capability to connect to multiple Westnet II Data Highways
accommodates large, integrated systems.
- Navigation aids provide operators with quick, direct access
to information.
- Capability to support multiple languages, character sets

compatibility with future hardware releases.
The WEStation Engineer Workstation combines
all of the functions of a WEStation Operator workstation with
the tools needed to create, edit, and download process graphics,
control logic, and the process point databases. The Software
Server functionality can be incorporated into the Engineer
Station to provide on-line storage for master copies of all
software, control logic, and graphics. There must be at least
one Software Server on each WEStation system.
WEStation Engineer Station Features:
- Dual performance as the WEStation Operator allows access
to online control and graphics, while engineering new configurations.
- Login Security available for restricted-access protection.
- Extensive capabilities to re-use graphics code, saves
time and ensures adherence to graphic conventions.
